She is currently illustrating the fifth book in the series: Charlie Plays Ball (HarperCollins, 2015). Her most recent illustrations are for Charlie the Ranch Dog, written by Ree Drummond, a #1 book on the New York Times Bestseller list. Her best selling picture books include Gilbert's Roses are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink, and Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet. ![]() The Annie Pitts series features America's favorite redhead as she tries to pursue an acting career–but first she has to survive third grade! The Gilbert and Friends series is her award-winning collection of stories about a beloved opossum who encounters situations that every first grader can identify with. Since 1995 Diane has been writing her own stories. Many titles are for well-known authors such as Eve Bunting, Lois Lowry, Johanna Hurwitz and even Dr. ![]() deGroat has free-lanced in advertising, editorial and design, but the main focus of her work has been in children's book illustration, with over 140 books to her credit. She started her career at Holt, Rinehart and Winston, designing their first basic reading series, K-6. She attended Pratt Institute, graduating in 1969 with a BFA in commercial art. ![]()
